Harry Potter Musical to likely feature character named Harry Potter
If you’re a fan of complicated dramatic fantasy novels being butchered into mediocre explosions of sprightly song and dance, then this news is for you!Rumblings have recently emerged around the idea of a possible Harry Potter musical. Details are vague (and, hopefully, false) but right now the apparent focus is on how the producers are going to shave down a 4,000 page epic drama into a bubbly 2 hour musical. One thought being thrown around is to only focus on only one of the several plotlines presented throughout the series.
I, for one, really hope they go with the “one plotline” approach. My recommendation would be to forget those pesky themes of good vs. evil, death vs. immortality & fate vs. free will in favor of something lighter, fluffier and starring Zac Efron.
OR, perhaps they could just take a “Wicked” approach to it and do Harry Potter from the point of view of Voldemort. In this version of our beloved story, we’ll find out Voldemort’s side of the story and realize that he isn’t so much a murderous dictator as he is a misunderstood murderous dictator.
