USA: Still Sucking at Sports
After a piss-poor showing at the Olympics this year (an embarrassment that was magnified by NBC's constant reminders that these were the USA's "Best Teams EVER"), I think its safe to say that American citizens everywhere were happy to have a chance to redeem themselves in the World Baseball Classic.
Alas, America has proven that they aren't even capable of making it to the semi-finals:
Oliver Perez and seven relievers combined to pitch a three-hitter to lead Mexico past the Rocket and Team USA 2-1 on Thursday night, eliminating the Americans from the inaugural World Baseball Classic and putting Japan in the semifinals.
The outcome was a stunner, especially considering the offensive firepower on the Americans’ roster.
What I found more stunning than the loss itself is that we lost to Mexico. Its kind of like the head cheerleader losing the title of Homecoming Queen to the drooling girl who rides the short bus.
